Our kids oooohs and ahhhhhs were priceless

I will never forget the comments made by my daughter-in-law and her mom as we were driving up the county road 4.  They told me later that they wondered where in the world we were going.  They were not sure what kind of place we would be staying in.   They were looking at all the different homes along the way and their thoughts were racing.  Where were we taking them?  Read more.

Of course, we did not know either but we had seen a picture.  Well , when they got out of the car their oooohs and ahhhhhs were priceless.  The kids were so excited.  We spent time locating the lock box as we kept looking by the doors and not the post.  It was a great hunt and heightened the excitement as some of them were looking in the window and saw the foosball and the air hockey.  They were delighted with every part.  My recommendation is that anyone coming bring about a pound of sunflower seeds.  I had about a cupful with me.  Each morning I put out about a tablespoon full.   And again in the evening.  We had a Stellar's jay, a grey jay, a chickadee, a white crowned sparrow and one or two others I did not recognize.  The little squirrel and a chipmunk would clean up the porch from the seeds that fell from the bannister.  The four crows kept an eye on us and talked among themselves about us.  I was surprised we did not see more deer.  One momma and her twins one morning.  One dark fox one evening.  But the moonlight was big and bright and beautiful.  We had a storm the first night and the electricity went out for about a minute - just enough to show us how dark it could be.

The rest of the time was lovely and sunny.   I had planned to wash the windows for you but I could not lift them to bring them in to wash them.  Sorry.   The story about the books is funny.  Angela asked Bruce if she should put the books in the car.  He said no, he would take care of them.  And that is why they were still there.   He has had those books since he was a little boy and he was reading them to his grandson.  They are about early baseball players.  Thanks for returning them.  Good memories.  I only wish I could have sat on the porch and watched the sky and the world and reveled in their glory.  Kids kept us busy.  Did use the crock pot for stew one day.  That smelled so good.  May you have a wonderful fall.  I envy you your mountains.  Do go look at that valley and meditate one day.  It was wonderful.   Sally
