If you plan to visit Breckenridge Colorado during the month of June, then you won’t want to miss the fourth annual Kingdom Days. Enjoy the sunshine and feel like one of the "locals" as you celebrate the diverse history that makes Breckenridge such a unique place to visit.
Known more for its world-class ski resort, one rarely hears about Breck’s 151-year history, but the town played an important role in mining and Western exploration since it was founded in 1859. Just in case you’re wondering why this colorful event is called "Kingdom Days", it is because Breckenridge was mistakenly left off of U.S. maps, and was only known as "Colorado’s Kingdom" until the year 1936, when it was finally incorporated.
It is in celebration of this fact that the whole town is turned upside down for an entire weekend. This annual tribute to gold mining, adventurous exploration, saloons and brothels is a great way to kick off the summer, Colorado style.
Visitors to Breckenridge line the streets in eager anticipation as they cheer on competitors in the Outhouse Races, which is by far the quirkiest and most popular event of the weekend. Imagine several teams coming together to push, pull or drag their "themed" outhouses across the finish line and you will understand why. Talk about a "photo finish"!
Kingdom Days also brings an abundance of scheduled events to Breckenridge throughout the weekend. Locals and visitors eat birthday cake "get down" at the town party. Families ride on an historic dredge boat, and runners of all ages take part in the Repertory Run and Kid’s Dash. Wild West style "gunfights" are carried out right on Main Street as live music is heard around every corner.
If you are looking for fun things to do near Breckenridge, CO, then look at the schedule of events for this year’s Kingdom Days festival, it is one you will not want to miss. Kingdom Days will take place on Saturday June 19th and Sunday, June 20th 2010.

Testimonials
I will never forget the comments made by my daughter-in-law and her mom as we were driving up the county road 4. They told me later that they wondered where in the world we were going. They were not sure what kind of place we would be staying in. They were looking at all the different homes along the way and their thoughts were racing. Where were we taking them? Read more.
