Fun Things to Do at Our Colorado Cabin
The majestic mountains of Colorado don’t lose their appeal once ski season ends; they are transformed into adventure parks! If you plan on vacationing with the family in Breckenridge Colorado this summer, then you won’t want to miss out on the thrills and excitement at the Breckenridge Peak 8 Fun Park.
Spend the day enjoying the beautiful vistas and fresh mountain air as you soar down the Alpine SuperSlides on a thrilling 2,600 foot slalom course. Once you master this new “terrain”, try the giant slalom track with its multiple twists, turns and dips.
If you plan to visit Breckenridge Colorado during the month of June, then you won’t want to miss the fourth annual Kingdom Days. Enjoy the sunshine and feel like one of the "locals" as you celebrate the diverse history that makes Breckenridge such a unique place to visit.
Known more for its world-class ski resort, one rarely hears about Breck’s 151-year history, but the town played an important role in mining and Western exploration since it was founded in 1859. Just in case you’re wondering why this colorful event is called "Kingdom Days", it is because Breckenridge was mistakenly left off of U.S. maps, and was only known as "Colorado’s Kingdom" until the year 1936, when it was finally incorporated.
When you’re vacationing in Breckenridge, you will want to check out some of the local dining spots that have become favorites among tourists and residents alike. The Hearthstone Restaurant is just that kind of restaurant, and it is one that you won’t want to miss!
Located in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, Breckenridge’s own Hearthstone Restaurant is a charming and romantic fine-dining establishment. Since 1989, they have been serving up some of the best hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood and delicious appetizers in a historic 125 year old Victorian building. One thing that makes this restaurant truly unique is their use of regionally farmed seasonal produce, meats and fish.
When most people think of vacationing in Breckenridge Colorado, thoughts of snowy slopes and roaring fires come to mind, but beyond all that fresh powder and non-stop adventure, there is an oasis of calm. Whether you are a spring skier looking for a therapeutic break from the action or you just need to escape from day-to-day stress, visit this unique Breckenridge spa and let the healing begin.
The Healing Waters Spa at Indian Hot Springs offers hot mineral baths, including geo-thermal cave baths, outdoor Jacuzzis and a mineral water swimming pool.
Vacationing in Colorado is always a treat, but sometimes when you spend most of your journey in a car it is easy to miss out on the wildlife and natural beauty of the Colorado Mountains. If you’re in the mood to get up-close and personal with one of Colorado’s most storied peaks, a ride on the Pike’s Peak Cog Railway is a must.
Kids of all ages will enjoy the steep trip up the side of this 14,110-foot mountain while they witness some flora and fauna that is unique to the high altitudes of these mountains.
Even though this journey is only 8.9 miles long, the round-trip is lasts more than three hours.
Anyone who has ever visited the colorful state of Colorado will tell you; the biggest decision any traveler has to make when planning a trip to Colorado is what to see and do while there. That’s because there are so many incredible sights to see in this Rocky Mountain state.
One way to make sure you see your share of 14,000-foot peaks, jaw-dropping vistas, gold-miner’s ghost towns, and awe-inspiring canyons is to take a driving tour, and in my opinion there is none better than the Gold Belt Tour. This 122-mile loop takes visitors through the deep canyons of Pikes Peak’s southern slope and spans the breathtaking region that lies between Canon City and Cripple Creek. Known as the Gold Belt Back-Country Byway, this trip connects the historic Victor gold mining area around Cripple Creek with beautiful Canon City and Florence Colorado. But be sure to travel in an all-terrain vehicle with an experienced driver, because much of this scenic route traverses unsurfaced roadways.
Looking for some adventure while in the Breckenridge area? Then look no further than White Mountain Tours. Located on nearby Copper Mountain, White Mountain Tours has been operating Colorado’s highest snowmobile tour for over 18 years and they offer an unforgettable way to experience the beauty of the Colorado Mountains.
When most people think about visiting Breckenridge Colorado, the first thing that comes to mind is a skiing vacation. But what most people don’t realize is that Breckenridge has so much to offer for the whole family. The historic Town of Breckenridge is actually a thriving vacation destination all year long.
In my opinion, regular visitors to the Arapahoe Basin Ski Area are some of the luckiest people in the world. After all, how many areas of the country offer so many expertly carved trails amid such jaw-dropping natural beauty? It has taken me several trips to A-Basin to gain my composure when I take in the full height of this 13,050 ft. mountain, especially when it’s coated with a blanket of fresh fallen snow.
Spending time in historic Breckenridge Colorado is a treat for the whole family. From the preserved architecture in the historic downtown area, to the world class ski resort that attracts skiers from around the world, Breckenridge is the true jewel of the Rockies.

Testimonials
I will never forget the comments made by my daughter-in-law and her mom as we were driving up the county road 4. They told me later that they wondered where in the world we were going. They were not sure what kind of place we would be staying in. They were looking at all the different homes along the way and their thoughts were racing. Where were we taking them? Read more.
