Ever since the early 1800’s, cattle drives in Colorado were followed by a hearty meal and an evening of lively music and tall tales at the chuckwagon.  For visitors to Breckenridge and other parts of Summit County, that tradition continues.  After all, what is a trip to Colorado without an authentic “Old West” experience? 

The chuckwagon dinner is a time-honored Colorado tradition, and there are a few very good ones right here in the Breckenridge area.

There are many ways to see breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains, but there is nothing quite like an exhilarating ride on down a mountain bike trail in Breckenridge or Vail, Colorado.  With hundreds of scenic miles stretching across single track and national forest roads, you don’t need to be an adventure-seeker to enjoy a mountain biking trip in Colorado.  In fact, you don’t even need to pedal uphill.  One of the best ways to see this area by bike is on a downhill-only ride.

Start by visiting one of two popular outdoor farmers’ markets in the Breckenridge, CO area.  On Fridays between 9am and 2pm, the nearby Dillon Farmers’ Market is the place to be for all the freshest foods from Colorado growers; plus, specialty foods, cheeses, breads and home-made desserts.  If you have some extra time, why not bring the whole family to this open-air market by Dillion Lake, just north of Breckenridge?  Over 90 vendors selling produce, gourmet items, jewelry and textiles make this one of the best farmers’ markets in the Summit County Colorado mountains!  Look for this market every Friday on Buffalo Street by Town Park, between LaBonte Street and Lake Dillon Drive.

Stop by Guest Services between 10 am and 4 pm, seven days a week, weather permitting.
